Inspections of area bridges that may have been impacted by the recent weather event have been completed. Lauderdale County Schools will be back in session on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. After working with local law enforcement agencies and highway safety crews, we have determined that most of our buses will be able to run their regular routes. However, there will be a few routes that will not be accessible due to road closures.
Please note the routes that will be affected by road closures:
* Bus #45: Highway 19 (below the bluff)
* Bus #21: Hobe Webb Road and Lizzie Neighbors Road
* Bus #8: Hobe Webb Road
As an added layer of precaution, buses will not depart for their morning routes until approximately 6:30 AM (first light). Please keep in mind that drivers will use their best judgment to ensure everyone's safety and may have to decide not to travel down a road where safety is a concern. In certain areas, buses will reroute around road closures, which may take a little extra time for pick-up and delivery. Please be patient and allow for extra time.
Schools will allow for extra arrival time for those living in affected areas, whether they are bus or car riders. If you live in one of these affected areas and are unable to safely travel to school, please notify your child’s school so they can discuss this with you further.
We understand that many of these issues will persist for several days, and we thank you for your patience as we work to safely navigate the roads to get our students to and from school. Any additional changes will be communicated via our social media outlets.
UPDATE: At approximately 8:00pm this evening, county officials communicated a correspondence that came from the TN Department of Transportation regarding the need for additional inspections for several bridges in Lauderdale County. As this information has just come to light, we will close schools again on Monday, April 7, 2025, until all bridges have been properly inspected. Again, this information was just shared late this evening so we apologize for the earlier announcement. We will continue to communicate and keep you up to date with school closing information.
Due to current ground saturation from recent heavy rainfall, combined with rising river levels and the forecast of additional flash flooding overnight, Lauderdale County Schools will be closed on Friday, April 4, 2025. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. The ongoing weather event can create hazardous travel conditions. Please stay safe and avoid any unnecessary travel if possible. Have a great evening!
Weather forecasts indicate that torrential rain and flooding are possible in our area tonight and tomorrow. Due to the uncertainty of the situation, there will be no school on April 3, 2025. Please be cautious and stay safe.
The National Weather Service has suggested that the potential for pop-up storms ahead of the line has increased. As a precaution, all Lauderdale County Schools will dismiss 30 minutes earlier than usual today.
Due to forecasted weather conditions, all after school activities have been cancelled for Wednesday, April 2nd. We are actively monitoring this situation and will communicate any additional cancellations through both our social media channels and our Lauderdale County Schools app.
