Lauderdale County Schools

The Lauderdale County Board of Education has selected Mrs. Selina Sparkman as its new Superintendent beginning July 14, 2025. Sparkman has served as Bledsoe County’s Superintendent since 2021 and as an Adjunct Leadership Coach with Austin Peay State University since 2020.

As a Superintendent, Sparkman sought to improve student outcomes, enhance teacher support and ensure equity across all schools.  In less than two years after becoming the Superintendent, Bledsoe County Schools was designated as one of twelve Exemplary School Districts in the state and four of its five schools were named Reward Schools.  Also, she established a business and community advocacy team and developed an aspiring principal’s academy.  While utilizing community stakeholders to encourage students, Sparkman partnered with the Bledsoe Telephone Company to offer the first fiber optics class in the country to Bledsoe County high school students.

Sparkman is no stranger to West Tennessee, having worked for both Memphis City Schools and Millington Municipal Schools.  She served as a teacher, middle school principal, academy principal, and CTE programs manager. Her experiences in public education across various Tennessee districts has equipped her with a unique perspective and ability to learn from and encourage those around her.

When asked about her move to Lauderdale, Sparkman stated, “I am truly honored to join the Lauderdale County Schools family as Superintendent. Together with our dedicated educators, families, and community partners, I look forward to building on the district’s strong foundation and working toward a future where every student is prepared to reach their full potential and succeed. This is an exciting new chapter, and I’m committed to listening, learning, and leading with a focus on excellence.”
