Tour Group

A collaborative effort between Superintendent Shawn Kimble and County Mayor Maurice Gaines generated school tours last week for County Commissioners and County School Board members.

During the tours, Superintendent Kimble and Mayor Gaines informed stakeholders that LCS has completed over $10 million dollars in improvements in recent years. Some of these projects are currently under construction throughout the county. These projects have been completed without any increase to our local tax base thanks to successful local planning of state and federal relief funding due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Completed and ongoing projects include new roofs on multiple campuses, 1:1 Chromebook devices, HVAC updates, building renovations and energy efficiency projects throughout the county.

In 2022, LCS launched the Middle College Program, a partnership between local high schools and Dyersburg State Community College. This program allows students to simultaneously earn their high school diploma and associate’s degree upon high school graduation. LCS officials are operationalizing the expansion of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming across the county to increase the number of students obtaining industry recognized certifications prior to graduation to bolster workforce readiness pipelines.

County Commissioners and School Board members were impressed with the students, faculty and staff, and administrators working cohesively to improve and enhance the learning atmosphere for Lauderdale County students.
