There will be no Project Lead or All Corp tutoring tomorrow, Monday, December 18th. School will dismiss early Tuesday, December 19th. Car riders will begin dismissing at 11:00.
Superintendent Kimble recently shared updates on Lauderdale County Schools' investments in K-12 and postsecondary education at SCORE's "Building A Brighter Future" State of Education in Tennessee. Specifically, Superintendent Kimble shared information regarding HTL (Haywood, Tipton, Lauderdale) University, a one-of-a-kind innovative collaboration between the three districts to expand access to career pathways.
HTL students will be immersed in STEM and career exploration activities and programming from the first days of Kindergarten to high school graduation. HTL University will provide high school graduates with opportunities to graduate with their high school diploma PLUS their choice of industry credentials, associate or TCAT degree, course credit toward a bachelor’s degree, or a guaranteed apprenticeship. Additionally, HTL University will inform families of potential career opportunities in the area and coordinate adult learning opportunities for those who desire to complete higher education.
Dear parents and guardians,
We kindly request you to have important discussions with your children regarding the importance of not bringing toy guns or any dangerous household items to school, as well as refraining from making threats towards other students. It is crucial to understand that inappropriate items and threats can lead to fear and confusion among students, ultimately disrupting the learning environment. To maintain a safe atmosphere for everyone, it is necessary to remind your child that bringing such items to school or on the bus can result in severe consequences, in accordance with school board policy and TN state law.
At Ripley Elementary, we take immense pride in providing a secure learning environment for all of our students. Therefore, we ask for your cooperation in having these conversations with your child, as it will greatly assist us in ensuring that they can focus on their academic goals without any distractions.

November 6-10, 2023, is National School Psychology Week. Lauderdale County Schools is fortunate to have Ms. Maria Leforgee, Ms. Jenny Gaines, and Ms. Olivia McCorkle serving students throughout our district. In their roles as school psychologists, they work closely with students, educators, and families to support the academic achievement, positive behavior, and mental wellness of all students, especially those who struggle with barriers to learning. We appreciate their dedication and service to the students of our community!

Teachers from Lauderdale County Schools’ 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) and LEAPS before- and after-school programs attended professional development session on Tuesday, October 31. “What First Year Teachers Need to Know”, facilitated by Mr. Texas Culver of UTM- Ripley’s Education Department, provided opportunities to discuss UTM’s Educator Preparation Program (EPP) design for undergraduate students pursuing careers in the field of education. These experienced teachers were able to share about their first year teaching experiences and provide recommendations for curriculum design that would best support these future educators. Many ideas, thoughts, and perspectives were shared with Mr. Culver for consideration during UTM’s EPP curriculum development process to ensure that first year teachers are successful from their first day of school through their careers.

Music stimulates Learning
Research shows that music reduces stress while stimulating happiness, which in turn helps students better concentrate on the task at hand, especially when learning.
With this knowledge, Mr. Tommy Durham, Site Director for the Project LEAD program, invested in electronic keyboards for Ripley Elementary School students. Almost twenty years later, these keyboards are still a favorite among students in the after school program. The program team hopes this new music genre will increase student focus and inspire creativity.
