Jason Holloway with UT Martin-Ripley Center helped our seniors apply for UT Promise this week. UT Promise is a last dollar tuition free scholarship for any school in the UT system as long as they meet certain criteria.



Ripley High School recently held its National Beta Club induction ceremony.
On December 15, 2021 thirty-nine new members were inducted into the National Beta Club at Ripley High School. These students were selected for membership based on their academic standing and character and join more than 500,000 members across the United States and beyond. National Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth group in the United States. Its mission is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.
In addition to the induction ceremony, the Ripley High School Beta Club installed its 2020-2021 officers: President: M. Goodman, Vice President: E. Carney, Secretary: R. Nelson, and Treasurer: B. Rubio.
National Beta CEO, Bobby Hart sent his congratulations to the students saying, “The skills and opportunities that come from National Beta membership impact students not only during their time in school, but as they move forward in life. We are proud of these new inductees and are excited to see how they grow as leaders and positively impact the world”.



The Ripley High School Choir performed last night! Family, friends, and faculty enjoyed performances from both choirs and solo performances from Carnie, Dekylan, and Taylor!




Tonight our Ripley High School and Ripley Middle school band held their annual Christmas concert.





Students in Ms. Echols’ Geometry class were tasked to use their geometry skills to design and build a bridge, which would hold a geometry textbook without breaking. The bridge had to be freestanding and span a minimum of 2 feet from dirt to dirt. (Desk to desk).

Today, Mrs. Medders 1st block Computer Applications class (9th grade students) worked in Google Sheets and in Microsoft Excel. Students used department store commission data rates to compare how much commission employees generated from 15 and 17 percent commission sales. Students used excel features and methods such as cell value and alignment. Students also used excel features to create line, bar, and pie graphs for visual comparisons.





Mrs. Hodges’ Biology class is spending this week doing a series of dissections to compare the anatomy of a frog, dogfish shark, and fetal pig.

Mr. Maupin’s Welding class spent time completing some projects this week!





LCS school board meeting attendees got into the holiday spirit tonight thanks to Ripley High School’s concert and steel drum bands. Directed by Ms. Deana Graham and Mr. Robert Elam, the bands played Christmas selections from “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” to “Feliz Navidad”.
Thanks to Title IV funding and a generous instrument donation provided by Navy Band Mid-South, band members are interacting with upgraded technology and state of the art instruments.
To hear more from the RHS and RMS bands, be sure to attend the Winter Band Concert on Monday, December 13, at 7:00PM. The RHS Winter Choir Concert on Tuesday, December 14, at 7:00PM. Both concerts will be held at Ripley High School.





Be sure to mark your calendars for “A Homestyle Christmas”!


RHS Art Club students have been busy making Christmas cards! These will be on sale from December 8th-December 14th. Cards will be $2.00 each. The money raised from this fundraiser will help support the art club in future endeavors.
An order form will be made and distributed among the RHS staff and will be available in the office. If you need any further information please leave a message for Mr.Poole or Ms.Coons at the front office, and we will get back with you as quickly as possible!


The winners of the Lauderdale County Soil and Water Conservation District 2021 post contest were announced. Students at Ripley Middle School submitted digital submissions using Google Docs as their platform. They learned ways to manipulate text and images while participating in a community effort. All students who submitted work will have their work displayed throughout the community during the annual tree giveaway in March. The winners of the contest were:

Alexis D. 1st place
Dr. Brandon was the teacher participation winner.

Several LCS students volunteered at tonight’s Bags of Hope sponsored by local area churches. Bags of Hope has provided non-perishable food to families in Lauderdale County for over ten years.
During a season of thanksgiving, LCS is proud to have students like DeePan, Maitri, Mira, and Riley who place others first. Way to exemplify servant leadership!





SCA completed its annual Thanksgiving scavenger hunt today. SCA collected food to feed 4 RHS families.
