Multiple community leadership members met on August 12, 2022 to review and discuss school safety operations as well as strengthen the partnerships between Lauderdale County Schools and each law enforcement department. This meeting was the third held by these community leaders in an effort to ensure a consistent vision and purpose existed among all entities. Meeting attendees included school and district administration, County Mayor Maurice Gaines, City of Ripley Mayor Craig Fitzhugh, Ripley and Halls Police Department leadership, and the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department.
All organizations plan to meet quarterly in our local schools to continue discussions surrounding school safety and ensure that effective and streamlined safety practices are in place. Attendees completed a walkthrough of Ripley High School at the conclusion of the meeting.

We are excited to announce RES is a Level 5 in ELA, Math, and Science! These results demonstrate the hard work our teachers, staff, and students put in each day.

Our new Assistant Principal!

I am pleased to announce Adrienn Perkins as the new assistant principal of RES. She has a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University and is currently pursuing her Eds Administration Leadership degree from Libscomb University. Her experience as an instructional coach and classroom teacher will help her fill the roll as an instructional leader. She also has experience with strong classroom management and restorative practices and will be a good model for teachers. She is familiar with the goals and needs of RES and will be a strong addition to the administrative team. The administrative team and the excellent teachers and staff of RES will continue to work hard to help our students achieve great things.

Mrs. Melinda Hutcherson, Director of Special Education, along with her team, provided LCS staff with updated and detailed information on multiple supports with the Special Education department. Deanna Arivett, of Arivett Law, was the special guest speaker for the afternoon.
