What an amazing day at HES! We held our 3rd 9 Weeks Awards Programs during our activity class times. We are so proud of our tigers and their many accomplishments!

Our #LauderdaleProud feature is Melisa Perry Richardson!
A 1997 graduate of Halls High School, Melisa Perry Richardson continued her education at Dyersburg State Community College and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee - Martin. She is currently enrolled in UT Martin’s Master of Science in Education Counseling program, with an emphasis in clinical mental health. She also received her Certified Reciprocal Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CRADC) certification from the Missouri Credentialing Board.
Melisa is an Integrated Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders (ITCD) Specialist for a behavioral health organization. What she enjoys most is having the opportunity to see people who utilize their second or third chances actively change and succeed.
We appreciate the difference you make, Melisa! We are #LauderdaleProud of you!

Congratulations to our third grade Zearn Leaders of the Week for the week of March 27th.


After reading the Native American tale, Gluskabe and Old Man Winter, 4th grade students performed tableaus to act out the different scenes.


LCS AWARE is sponsoring the fourth annual KINDness week on April 10-14, 2023. During KINDness week, Lauderdale County Schools will be collecting items that will be donated to the students and families of Tipton County. Each school is asked to collect and donate specific items. Please see the attached flyer for more details!

Third grade reading teachers would like to spotlight some award winning authors and illustrators. Authors who answered the prompt throughly and had great content won the Newbury Honor Award, and illustrators who provided as much detail that portrayed their writing won the Caldecott Medal. In addition, they also received a “Tiger Ticket” and a shout out during morning announcements. We are very proud of these scholars!


Our next #LauderdaleProud double feature is Michael and Angel Ferguson!
Michael and Angel Ferguson are 1995 and 2000 graduates of Ripley High School. Michael has earned his bachelor’s degree from Bethel University and master’s degree from Concordia University. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in speech pathology. Angel has earned degrees from Dyersburg State Community College, Union University, and Concordia University. Angel received her teaching license from University of Tennessee - Martin.
Michael is a speech interventionist for Haywood County Schools. His favorite part of his career is seeing students’ faces when they accomplish their goals. Angel is a Special Education teacher at Haywood High School. She most enjoys molding young people into the future.

Happy Vice Principal Appreciation Week to our very own, Mr. Nick Stevens! We appreciate you and all you do for HES!

HES and RPS Pre-K students and teachers participated in the Carl Perkins Center’s kickoff parade for Child Abuse Prevention Month. The theme was “There is no place like a safe home”. RHS JROTC led the parade while Pre-K students marched in the parade and adorned rubies and crowns to celebrate the 41st anniversary of the Carl Perkins Center. Parents and families joined the celebration for a huge turnout and great success. LCS would like to thank all staff, volunteers, parents, and community members for helping us place the best interest of children at the center of all we do.
