This weekend, members of the RMS and RHS Student Councils attended the Southern Association of Student Councils conference in Sulphur, Louisiana. These student leaders heard from keynote speakers Kyle Scheele and Houston Kraft and participated in several roundtable and workshop sessions. We look forward to the great things they will accomplish this school year!

Excel students in Ms. Tammy Pipkin's class participated in a Wilderness Survival Simulation Game. McKenna, Joshua, and Adalyn's team won the challenge by using science, math, logic, and creative thinking.


Sixth grade students in Ms. Smith's and Ms. Halliburton's social studies classes completed a unit on the Ancient Egyptians.

Join the RMS Math Department for Monster Math Night! Parents will learn more about our new iReady online learning program and ways to support their child at home with our new Ready Math curriculum.
Those who join us will receive two (2) admissions vouchers to the RMS Basketball Jamboree following Math Night!


Students in Mr. Crawford's 7th grade science classes have been working together in groups, researching one of the Kingdoms of Living Things. They made posters and presented them to class.

Ms. Pipkin's Excel class completed a unit on Shakespeare. They learned about the life and times of the Bard, compared his works to modern day rap lyrics, analyzed and rapped a sonnet with iambic pentameter, studied the semantics of Shakespearean insults, and read the Tempest.


The RMS Robotics Club had their first chance to start building their robots this week. All four teams successfully completed their chassis in 90 minutes and are now making plans for customizing their robots. Plans are in the works for competition this winter.

Learning Javascript
Students in Dr. Brandon’s Tech Lab classes have been learning Javascript while working as partners in pair programming. Students collaborated to create sprites and animate them on Code.org.

RMS Tiger Club Halloween Dance is Friday, October 18th from 7-9 PM.
Tickets can be purchased on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during lunch for $5. No tickets will be sold on Friday. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place costumes. All proceeds benefit RMS Athletes.

4-H is having a Fall Break Community Service Day next Thursday, October 10! This free event is sponsored by the Lauderdale UT-TSU Extension Office.
Many students are looking for opportunities to earn service hours for various extracurricular activities. This is an excellent service opportunity for a great cause.
