On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, 8th grade students from Ripley Middle School (from left to right-Ja'Mareon K., Colton B., Ja'Myra T., and Arianna L.) were accompanied by their school counselor, Mrs. LaGenia Knox, to attend UT Martin's FutureStar Leadership Summit. The FutureStar Summit is a leadership program designed for West Tennessee’s potential leaders held at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Sponsored by WestStar alumni, this event is designed to plant a seed of inspiration by exposing students, many for the first time, to the value of education and the possibilities of college life. The students participated in a variety of interactive events around campus. Ariana and Ja'Mareon were also given the opportunity to host a live segment on the campus radio station, WUTM 90.3 "The Hawk". Due to their willingness to engage and be leaders, all four students were given an early admission letter to UT Martin!
