Lauderdale County Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Brandon Poyner as the new Principal of Ripley High School. In this role, he will work to support student achievement, strengthen instructional practices, and foster a positive school culture focused on academic excellence, strong relationships, and student success. His leadership will emphasize creating opportunities for all students while maintaining high expectations and a student-first approach.
Mr. Poyner currently serves as Principal of Bolton High School and brings nearly two decades of experience in public education. He began his career in 2007 as a middle school social studies teacher and baseball coach and has since served in several leadership roles including Optional School Coordinator, Assistant Principal at Fairview Middle School, Assistant Principal and Principal at Millington Middle School, Vice Principal at Millington Central High School, and Principal at Bolton High School.
Under Mr. Poyner’s leadership, Bolton High School experienced significant academic growth and school improvement. Over a three-year period, the school improved from a State Letter Grade of F to B, increased its graduation rate from 82% to above 90%, raised its TVAAS Growth Score from Level 1 to Level 5, improved achievement scores from Level 1 to Level 5, and increased End of Course Math success rates by 20 percent. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Mid-Continent University and a Master of Arts in Supervision and Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Mr. Poyner believes that “schools are for kids” and is committed to leading with a focus on relationships, academic excellence, and creating meaningful opportunities for students. His dedication to student success and school improvement will continue to positively impact students, staff, and the community.
