Over the past few months, students in Halls High School Welding program have worked to rebuild a damaged trailer. Mr. Michael Badger, Welding instructor, noted that the students’ responses were, “There’s no way to fix this trailer”. However, after they slowly began to break down the trailer, the students started to realize that they had the necessary skills it would take to rebuild the trailer.

During the rebuild process, students utilized problem-solving and critical thinking skills, as well as specialized trade skills such as oxy fuel setup and cutting, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), and electrical wiring.

“It was great to see them go from ‘no way’ to an ‘I can do this’ attitude”, states Mr. Badger.

LCS is proud of the real world learning opportunities that students can engage in by enrolling in Career-Technical Education courses. #CTEMonth
