The RMS Chess Club is pleased to announce the stellar performance of one of its members, DeePan Chauhan, in the 2019 Region 4 Tennessee State Scholastic Chess Tournament held in Memphis, Tennessee on Saturday, January 26. DeePan is a sixth grade student at RMS and this was his first experience playing chess on the tournament level. He won two of his matches in the Elementary section open to grades 6 and below. The tournament was held at Idelwild Elementary School in Memphis and the Region 4 competition is made up of twenty-one counties in West Tennessee. We are proud of DeePan and look forward to his future as a tournament chess player representing the RMS Chess Club. Congratulations, DeePan!
