Mrs. LaTonya Jackson, 9-12/CTE Supervisor, is speaking to RMS 8th graders this week regarding Lauderdale County Schools’ Rising Freshmen R.O.A.R. Camp.

R.O.A.R. Camp will be held daily in June and is designed to support student academic needs and learning loss, while including opportunities for students to be exposed to Career Technical options in our high schools. We will have guest speakers, team building activities, field trips, freshmen orientation, and much more. Students will leave camp more academically prepared for high school coursework, having a greater awareness to career pathways and post-secondary options, and bonding together as the Class of 2025. Course schedules and class t-shirts will be issued the last week of camp.

The first step in effective planning is to gauge participation interest of our students. This survey has been created to begin planning for appropriate accommodations, personnel, space, and resources. The camp is tentatively scheduled for June 1st-25th, Monday-Friday. Students are tentatively scheduled to attend camp at the high school campuses.

A Google form interest survey for Rising Freshmen Camp is posted in the Class of 2025 Google Classroom. Parents can also click on the link below to complete the survey on behalf of their student. Families are asked to complete this survey by Tuesday, March 30th at 8:00PM. Once plans are finalized, more detailed information will be sent about the Rising Freshmen R.O.A.R. camp.
