Craig Fitzhugh, Chairman and CEO of the Bank of Ripley, addressed Lauderdale County Schools’ Superintendent Study Council, school principals, and district administrators on Thursday, April 18.  A long-time advocate of public education during his political career, Mr. Fitzhugh stressed the importance of literacy, especially early literacy in the lives of children and its economic impact on Lauderdale County.  Mr. Fitzhugh presented a check to the group in support of literacy initiatives in all Lauderdale County Schools. The Superintendent Study Council is composed of teacher representatives from each of the district’s eight schools and provides teacher voice in quarterly meetings with the superintendent.
