The Ripley High School Beta Club |
Leadership Academy
2007

The Leadership Academy also has a summer camp, the
Broyhill Leadership Conference.
The Broyhill Leadership Conference (BLC) is a nationally recognized program
which offers student leaders an opportunity to participate in a unique presentation
on issues such as goal setting, communications, problem solving and self
concept. Only the first 100 National Beta Club members who apply will be
accepted to go to BLC. The week that these students attend is exclusively
for National Beta Club members. Since 1982 BLC has been attended by over
20,000 students from all across America and from as far away as Poland and
Australia. Participants learn how to become more effective leaders, build
positive self esteem and overcome negative peer pressure.
BLC can be a life-changing experience. Participants enter into an adventure
from the moment they arrive. Materials are written for the participants of
the BLC and are easily adapted and applied to their clubs and schools. They
engage in energetic group activities and discussions, hear humorous and motivated
speakers, watch inspirational videos, compete in Olympic style team building
events, enjoy a dance and talent show and much, much more. Through the laughter
and sometimes tears, participants listen and learn, develop enduring friendships,
and take home ideas that will enable them to become a better students, leaders,
sons, and daughters.
