9-15-2007 band competition tomorrow beginning at 6:00 p.m

Our band will present an exhibition performance at 9:00.

OCT:   

HOSA has started a fund raiser today, that will continue until Nov 19th. We are selling Home Decor candles to help send members to conference in January.

National HOSA week is Nov 5-9. We, along with BMH Lauderdale, will be setting up a table/booth in the cafeteria Friday Nov 9, which will focus on careers in Healthcare.

BMH Explorers Program is being held at RHS this year for the first time. It is scheduled for the third Thursday of each month in Mrs. Crihfield's room 403. Each month, a different area of the hospital will come and present information about their particular area of health care.

JROTC :

Rifle Team Takes Conference Championship
On Saturday, 27 October, the Ripley HS Army JROTC Rifle team competed in the Southwest Missouri JROTC Air Rifle conference championship at New Madrid, MO against 5 other Army JROTC units. For the 5th year in a row, both A team and B team took first place.

In the A team individual competition, Matthew Berkley took 2nd Place in the prone, 1st place in the standing, 2nd place in the kneeling and 1st place overall, Jordan McCalvin took 2nd place in the standing, 1st place in the kneeling and 2nd place overall. Austin Crutchfield took 4th place overall. Also shooting for the A team was Mara Payment and Chelsea Rhoads.

In the B team individual competition, Jeremy Ayers took 3rd place in the standing and 1st place overall. Caitlin Townshend took 1st in the kneeling and 2nd overall. Christopher Vallery took 3rd overall. Jonathan Parks took 2nd place in standing and Aimee Russell took 2nd in the prone.

DEC: Just a reminder that we will be giving Gateway and End of Course tests in December ---- Gateway 1st period and EOC during class periods schedule
Gateway Algebra and EOC Foundations II Tuesday, Dec 4
Gateway English II, EOC English I, and EOC U S History Wednesday, Dec 5
Gateway Biology and EOC Physical Science Thursday, Dec 6

We will have 1st period (three days) from 7:50 until 10:00 or so - as needed - the English test will need a longer time that biology
We will test all gateway students and the 1st and 2nd period EOC students during this long 1st period. Then, we will ring bell for 2nd period which will be a shorter period. EOC tests will be given 3rd and 4th block during class time on regular schedule.
(We may have a few students that have a Gateway test and a 1st or 2nd period EOC test at the same time - example English II and EOC history - that student will take the Gateway 1st period and test EOC later in the day)

Ripley FFA has poinsettias now available for sale. They are $9.00 and are beautiful. We can deliver them to your school from 9:30 to 11:00 during the day or you can pick them up at the Ripley High School Greenhouse. Call 635-8070, or email Kent Cherry/Lynsey Butler on the school system.
