  Fight Free

Fight Free Program

During the 2004-05 school year, we adopted the nationally recognized Fight Free program to meet the needs of our student body and our school environment. The center piece of our Fight Free School Program is our Fight Free School Flag. Look for our flag to be flying right under our American Flag. When you see it flying, that means we were fight free the day before. If it is not flying, that means we had a fight the day before. Our students take great pride in flying our flag.

Good Behavior Awards

The Good Behavior Awards program promotes good behavior and excellence in the classroom by awarding the Most Improved Behavior and Best Behaved students from each classroom with an Accelerated Reader book (AR). This program encourages students to continue their good behavior and also to read and enhance their education throught the AR program.

Random Acts of Kindness

The teachers of Ripley Elementary School have decided that more focus needs to be made on the GOOD and wonderful things that are RES. One of the ideas that we decided to pursue is our Random Acts of Kindness Wall. Any student, staff member, system wide staff member, parent, community partner, etc. can be nominated for an Act of Kindness toward someone else. The intent is to promote a positive school environment by highlighting all of those in our school family for whom we are so PROUD. In conjunction with our school changing its mascot to the Tiger Cubs, we place the individuals' pictures on our Wall of Pride/Honor in the middle of a purple and white tiger paw. An administrator mades contact with the parents of nominated students to share the joy and pride

Friday Rewards

Each Friday, students who did not receive a disciplinary referral (pink slip) for the week (from the past Friday until 2 pm Thursday) will be treated with something special. This rewards the largest portion of our students who have had wonderful behavior. It may also help encourage others to choose good behavior.

Project L.E.A.D

Project LEAD is the after school program at RES that is funded through a 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Project LEAD meets Monday-Thursday each week from 3 until 5:30 pm. This program is for 3-5 grades needing additional help in Reading and Math. During LEAD time, students have time to work on homework, eat a nutritious snack, then travel to different classes daily such as recreation, keyboarding, Lightspan, Math tutoring, Reading tutoring, and AR. Students must abide by school rules. Those breaking school rules during LEAD hours are subject to removal from the program. Project LEAD is no cost to the students. LEAD can have a maximum of 100 students in the program. LEAD has 14 certified staff and assistants working with these students. LEAD also has a Site Coordinator that is with the program everyday and a Director over the RES program as well as the HJH and LMS programs.
