Wednesday Writers
Halls Jr. High will be teaching writing skills across the curriculum this year. In Ms. Jennifer Kent's English classes, “Wednesday Writers” will be learning important skills that will develop them into more proficient writers. In the 8th Grade, students take the TCAP Writing Exam which accounts for a major part of their scores. Students are tested on the ability to write an ‘expository’ paper. Ms. Kent says, "We don’t want them to wait until they are in the 8th grade, so we are building the foundations now of becoming a well developed writer. Each Wednesday, I will be introducing a new writing skill or technique."

Mr. Nick Kistenmacher, the West Tennessee Liason for Senator Bob Corker visited HJH during Constitution Week, which took place September 15-19. Mr. Kistenmacher gave 8th grade students some little known facts about the Constitution of the United States as well as answered questions from the audience about the Constitution. Following the presentation, students were given informational pamphlets about the Constitution and signed a replica that will be hung in Senator Corker's Washington, D.C. office.
