Programs are structured so that students can have career-technical
experiences at each grade level in high school. All students are
encouraged to take courses that are in their career or general
interest areas.
The programs of study available are agriculture education, family
and consumer science education, drafting, technology education,
marketing, business and office education, computer science, health
science, technology preparation, and criminal justice.
The goal of Career-Technical Education in Lauderdale County is to
prepare students for life long learning. Through the experiences
available to students in the courses offered, they will be able to
broaden their understanding of career areas prior to a post-secondary
experience. We believe that everyone must have some type of
post-secondary training whether it is on-the-job training, attending
one of the Tennessee technology centers, a technical institute, a
community college, or a 4-year college. The choice belongs to the
student and his/her parents and it is our responsibility to provide
the necessary experiences to enable them to make a knowledge based
choice.
We are proud to be part of the High Schools That Work initiative.
The High Schools That Work initiative under the Southern Regional
Education Board (SREB) works to strengthen the academic preparation
of career-technical education students by blending rigorous academic
and Career-Technical students. To learn more, visit the Southern
Regional Education Board website. |
