IBPA Conference

Project AWARE students from Lauderdale County Schools have been invited to the International Bullying Prevention Association’s national conference in San Diego.  The focus of this year’s conference will include the importance of adult-youth partnerships with different student led sessions offered throughout the conference. Student led sessions are a highlight of this event, keeping our youth voice present while working on bullying prevention strategies. Attendees will learn strategies for positive school climate, discuss strategies to reduce social-emotional barriers, and receive information to enhance student engagement.

Our students will be participating in a part of the OLWEUS Bullying Prevention Training by speaking about the importance of Youth Voice in Bullying Prevention.  They will be presenting in the Move2Stand breakout session where they will help lead various activities and be a part of a youth panel. Also, they will be helping with registration, introducing speakers, and helping with passing out and collecting surveys during breakout sessions.  One day the students will be going to a local school in San Diego to help with a Move2Stand event.

Conference participants from across the nation will include counselors, administrators, teachers, mental health coordinators, social workers, restorative practice personnel, PBIS coordinators, law enforcement, professors, research staff, hospital personnel, youth pastors, school psychologists, school nurses and more!
