Starting the 3rd 9 weeks, Ms. Dixon’s 7th grade ELA class is reading Farewell to Manzanar, a compelling memoir describing one family’s experience in Manzanar Interment Camp in California. To contextualize their reading, students participated in a Gallery Walk exploring a collection of internment camp photos. The Gallery Walk allows students to visualize and gain insight Into upcoming chapters about what life was like living in an internment camp. Students will continue reading and exploring the experiences of the Wakatsukis family during World War II and how those experiences affected them.
