During the 1996-97 school year, the Lauderdale County School
System was involved in a Goals 2000 Grant called Touring
and Traveling in Tennessee (TTT).. TTT was an Internet
project designed to improve student achievement, increase parental
involvement, and provide professional development for teachers
through the development of research, writing, information-retrieval
and utilization, and presentation development skills. Higher order
thinking skills was strengthened, as was teamwork and group process
skills.
Information-age Infrastructure was installed in the ten school
districts that participated in the grant and affected 94 teachers and
2500 students who participated in the TTT project. The project
was evaluated by qualified University personnel.
As a result of this grant, servers were purchased and teachers
were trained to publish a web page illustrating information about
people, places, products and services unique and/or important to
Lauderdale County and our community.
The Touring and Traveling in Tennessee grant was a project
designed in a consortia among ten Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and
four higher education partners under Tennessee Board of Regents'
governance. The goals of this project were to provide professional
development and provide Internet access to classrooms at all grade
levels. TTT empowered students, parents and communities to
improve academic achievement and encouraged parental involvement.
The amount funded for this grant was $283,840.00. The Consortium
members represented in the ten school districts were: Bedford County
Schools, Carroll County Board of Education, Hollow Rock-Bruceton
Special School District, Huntingdon Special School District, McKenzie
Special School District, South Carroll Special School District, West
Carroll Special School District, Franklin Special School District,
Lauderdale County Schools, and Warren County Schools. |
